It is now 11:30 AM and Cindy is off to the workout center after having missed the two previous days. I just couldn't make it today because I have lifted 4 straight days and my muscles need a break.
It is Sunday morning. It feels strange that we are not yet involved in a church here in Knoxville. It will happen, but so far we haven't been attracted to any of the churches we have visited or researched.
Last night I was first awakened by a welcome rain storm at 1:00. I like rain and I like the sounds and smells of it. I like the lightning and thunder and the promise of freshness from heaven as the dark clouds roll in. I got out of bed and went to the window and watched as the moonlit silvery droplets pelted.
It ended about 30 minutes later. Before I could return to the Land of Nod, I became aware of a driving bass from the home next door. To be sure, the sound was not loud enough to keep me from sleep, but I did have to wonder why the neighbors (whom we have never met since we moved in in March) would be listening to loud rock music in their home at almost 2:00 AM. Hmmm, I thought...alcohol must be involved.
This almost imperceptible driving bass beat continued for about 40 minutes and then ended. As I rolled over and pulled my pillow to my body, I began to slide off to sleep. But then.......
I heard voices outside---very faint. Two men talking. Where could this be? I investigated. There was no one outside in front or in back. And why would two people be outside in the wee hours after rain had made their world sloppy wet? Sigh....who knows the answers to these questions?
Around 4:30 I again slid off into unconsciousness. I dreamed of my cell phone which would not function and my car that would not start. Oh well.......tomorrow is another day!
I don't mind welcomed rain but the flashes of the lightening upsets my epilepsy. Sorry you had a sleepless night .....I had one back last week not to be reccomended.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
just never know what you're gonna get here...
ReplyDeleteAhhhh to sleep in the rain, it's amazing! Now I'm curious who, or what, you heard last night. If I can't sleep I just pick up some of my "required" reading and in no time at all I'm sound asleep, even if only for a few short hours.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can stay awake today or your sleep pattern will be all over the place... I speak from experience! lol
Living in an apartment complex we hear all kinds of noises and some keep us up. People don't realize how loud they are at night when they are walking between the buildings. Sometimes they stop and we can hear almost every word. Or there is a car alarm going off or the sirens from the road.
ReplyDeleteWe did get some good rain this week and Friday night we had some relaxing rain that made my tight muscles melt. Was wonderful! Now if we can have some more rain ;)
I have had nights like that. When we first moved into our house in town, I couldn't get over all the noise and neighbors. One neighbor in particular had that bass sound going nearly all night. I finally realized that as repetitive as it was, that it was actually a video game like guitar hero or something. Explained a lot. I was awaken one night by one of his friends puking in the street. I have pretty much had a for sale sign up since we moved in.
ReplyDeleteHey Clint, let it rock! Now it's 20:30 pm, I'm blogging. Will go to bed early cause my hollidays are over and I must work tomorrow. Wish you a nice Sunday and a good night.
ReplyDeleteMany greetings to Cindy
Sabine
You sure you didnt dream the voices?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, we've had neighbors with the slamming bass until 4 in the morning. I know if I'd heard voices, I'd woken hubby up to investigate!
ReplyDeleteBeen there done that ....happy they are few and between now ...I moved to this rural area last August and it is so quite...no four lane highway, no trains, ...just the whipper-will, the frogs and the sounds of other night creatures....sometimes I hear coyotes yapping across the field....I love my new home....in this area there is one grocery store, three convenient stores, one co-op store and one dollar store...but all the "up town stuff " snicker snicker is a good 10 miles from where I am located...so God has been good to me...BTW Clint ...I love rain storms..I relish the smell of rain .....
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing when it rained here and we had a pretty violent storm with high winds. I know I shouldn't look out the window, but it is so neat.
ReplyDeleteYou had a busy night. Hope you got to sleep in.
Arkansas Patti
we had rain too last night and it was nice. it was a light rain not a thunderstorm but we needed it. maybe your neighbor had a party and did not invite you:)
ReplyDeleteSo...did you ever figure out who was talking outside your home? That's a little creepy!
ReplyDeleteOh Clint, that's normal over here, specially at the weekends in the summer
ReplyDeleteFiestas and music till four or five o'clock in the morning. Sometimes you don't need a radio :-))
Have a beautiful start in the new week
