The Walk....

Let us say you and a friend are walking down a long trail.  Your destination is several miles farther down the trail.  By and by you are joined by a third person---a man you do not recognize.  The man joins your conversation, and as he speaks, you can sense the power and passion in his voice and his words.  Your hearts begin to burn with his wisdom and strength.

You ask the man to join you for dinner at the end of your walk; and, as you sit at the table together, the stranger breaks bread and says a little prayer.  Just at that moment, you and your friend realize that it is Jesus Himself---and, at that moment, He disappears.

What do you think your reaction would be when you realized that this man was Jesus?  What would be your reaction when He disappeared?  Do you think something like this could happen to you?   Would this event be life-changing for you?  Would you feel compelled to tell others about what had happened?

Because, you see, it did happen---on the third day after Jesus' crucifixion, two men were walking along the road to Emmaus, a town about 12 kilometers from Jersualem, when this story took place.   Ref:  Luke 24:13---35.  A remarkable story, and something to think about.

  1. Well, to tell you the truth I always believe that from time to time Jesus came to join our world and I was educated to think that it can happened to see Him anytime!
So I live like Jesus watch me or is next to me in every moment in every stranger!
    Not only words!
    My regards!

  6. I wish it would happen to me... I only hope that I would recognize him as my Savior.

  7. The road to Emmaus, was always a favorite story of mine. Imagine the fire burning in these people! Imagine their excitement! They couldn't wait to go back and tell the rest of the disciples. I think their reaction mimics every truly born again experience that has ever happened. They say new Christians should be caged for the first year of their Christianity. I believe that Jesus wants us to keep that zeal all of our lives as documented in the Revelation letter to the church. It is our first love.

  8. Rachel and Susie---I truly believe our Saviour is present always. It tests our faith to think maybe He is not with us when we need Him...but I know He is there. Of course, it is so important to know that we need to support each other---thank you both for doing that for me. God bless...

  9. I think it would change everybodys life, but in these days to tell about...

Anyway...this feeling reminds me of a doctor in Germany. He is a wonderful good listener and if he takes your hand a warm feeling goes through the body.

  12. Yes, I DO think it would be life changing, and you had better want to tell your friends about it! Although in 2011, some might think that you're insane.
