Two Things.......

Ponder this.......

I.

** Pythagorean theorem: .................................................... 24 words.

** Lord's prayer:.....................................................................66 words.

** Archimedes' Principle: ................................................... 67 words.

** 10 Commandments: ...................................................... 179 words.

** Gettysburg address: ...................................................... 286 words.

** Declaration of Independence : ....................................1,300 words.

** US Constitution with all 27 Amendments : ................... 7,818 words

** US Government regulations on sale of cabbage: ....... 26,911 words.

And this.......

II.

An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine which I quote:

"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

"The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period.

“That means you are about 25 percent more likely to be shot and killed in the U.S. capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the U.S., than you are in Iraq

Conclusion: The U.S. should pull out of Washington.

  3. Not being a US citizen I can't really comment, I have a hard job understanding our own politicians what with all this phone hacking going on.

    Have a good day.

  8. Wow, how interesting is that! I guess that's why I don't leave my own neighborhood. Low crime rate here and if I happen to get shot it will be by a hunter not some gang member or terrorist. Great post, Clint.

  9. That death rate by gun is scary. I heard a startling stat today. More service men have died of suicide after coming home than have died in battle.

  10. Wow, startling statistics. I also cannot comment on Washington, I'm a Canadian. I can however comment a drive by shooting on a reservation where one 5 year old child was shot and killed. It's so sad. So what should the punishment be for gang related violence? Violence where an innocent child gets killed? I say send these brave gang members on the front line, let them be "heros".

  15. Clint, this is a most interesting post! Unbelievable, but true.

First, the less said, the better.

Second, the gun laws are not working!

I scrolled down to read the new entries you had posted the past days. Can't believe that absinthe can change the way a man looks in just a few minutes (hours?) after taking it. Maybe you did have an overdose, and Cindy was wise to take only a puny little glassfull of it!

Thank you, but I think I'll stay away from that stuff!

    Blessings,
    Lidj
