My Morning.......

A Little Blurry, Just Like the Focus of My Eyes In the Early Morning
I usually wake up a few times during the night, but last night I slept like a baby.  Second stop:  coffee pot.  I like it dark and strong.  Fortunately, so does Cindy.

The Living Room is Still a Mess

So is the Dining Room

In the early morning twilight I stumbled through the mess that is our home.   We are still moving in, but boxes remain.  I figure it'll take about another month to have the place looking decent.  Whew.

Looking North From Our Rear Deck

Our Back Yard With Thick Hedges
I go out to the rear deck and sip the strong brew.  It warms my being.  I gaze at the summer greenery flourishing before me.  Two powerful mugs of java have my energy level elevated.  Time for my morning workout!

Looking Northwest From Our Front Porch---Note the Ridge Line in the Background

Looking East---More Ridges
Out the front door I go---the morning is glorious.  The ubiquitous Tennessee ridges that surround our home loom in the distance.  The air is cool and fresh.  Off I go to my spa, down Callahan Road to Clinton Highway to the community of Powell---about a ten minute spin.

My workout awaits---usually there are only a few people there this early in the morning, and today was no exception.  I stretch in the parking lot, then go inside.   Today I work on arms, shoulders, upper back, chest, abs and cardio.  I feel good---and fatigued---when I finish.  My day has begun.  This is a day the Lord has made---let us rejoice and be glad in it.

  3. Thanks, Clint for the scripture--I especially needed to hear it this a.m. and to be reminded to be joyful for what God has given us. I love your pics and I love East TN's cool mornings--the heat is already stifling in Dallas this a.m.

  6. Well Clint, it looks like if you stepped through those thick hedges in your yard you'd cross over into the land before time. Nice to have a buffer like that between your peaceful home and the outside world.
Your scripture reminds me of what my grandaughter Haleigh said to me one day. After my teaching her to say "this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoyce and be glad in it," she asked "Nana, why do I have to be Joyce today?" So innocent.
Enjoy your day. Don't work too hard now!

  8. I'm not sure there is a drink better than that first sip of coffee in the morning, and that quiet time, when the rest of the world is still asleep, is a such a nice way to ease into the day.
I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

  15. Sounds like a typical day in my world as well! Mom and I are still trying to get things put away from our move a couple months ago...just takes time to get comfy and give things their own little place in a new home.
    Blessings to you & Cindy!

Beautiful spring morning over at your place... I enjoyed the pictures.

I am sure that the sense of newness refreshes you - body, soul and spirit.
