A Joyous Family Sunday.......

L---R  Me, Canyon, Tracy
We were up early on Sunday mornin'.  There were Big Doin's planned!  Excitement was in the air!
L---R  Canyon, Tracy, Lucinda, Patti

Cindy's sister, Patti, was coming over, along with Cindy's daughter, Lucinda, son-in-law Tracy and the center of everyone's attention, grandson Canyon.
What a Photogenic Family!
A hearty repast was planned---scrambled eggs, cheese grits, sausage/cheese balls, and various juices and fruits.

What a Great Meal!
Ummm Ummm Ummmmmm!!!
Thanks, Cindy!
No, my friends....when you come to eat at our house, you will definitely NOT be leaving hungry.  None of that stopping off afterward at the local Burger King because you didn't get enough to eat.  Uh uh.
Shovelin' It In!
Matter of fact, you might just request a wheel chair after eating.
Someone Said I Look Like I'm Gettin' Ready to Barf---Not True!

We had a great time talking and munching our way through the morning.

Then, I took a nap.  Ha.

My Morning....

Beautiful Silver Icicles Adorn Our Roof

I am up early.  The house is still and cold.  I turn up the thermostat and very quickly the heat warms my soul.  The coffee pot beckons.  I make enough strong java for Cindy and me.  She will soon be out of bed, but for now she is putting off getting up to a cold environment.

My E-Mails are answered.  Then I read the news.  By now the sun is casting a golden glow on the baby blue skies of north Texas.  I look out our den windows at the patio and pool.
The Pool Is An Ugly, Wintry Mix Of Water, Ice and Leaves

Ice covers the pool, and I pray my pool pump will be in working condition when the thaw begins tomorrow.

Our Proud Little Snowman Endures!

Our little snowman still stands guard near our back door, his blueberry buttons having fallen off his proud breast, and his herbal smile now crooked and his poor little dyed boots now having faded and bled into his torso.  But he is so cute, and we love him.

Big icicles hang from the roof.  Patches of snow remain on the bushes and roof.

Our Neighbor's Tree Seems to Never Run Out of Leaves, Most of Which Find Their Way Into Our Pool
The pool is an ugly mixture of water, ice and leaves  from our neighbor's tree....a tree that seemingly has an inexhaustible supply of leaves that it spews into our pool from November to February.  It certainly keeps me busy trying to clean the pool daily.

Cindy Cooks the Bacon For Our Breakfast BLTs

I smell bacon sizzling in the kitchen.  Cindy is up and has decided we will be eating BLTs for breakfast.  Sounds good to me!  God is in His heaven and all is right with the world!

Morning Lasagna (and evening, too!)

Cindy's lasagna---Wonderful Any Time of Day
Cindy made her scrumptious lasagna for dinner last night.  It is so decadent that we only feast on it about once or twice a year.  The recipe she uses makes quite a bit, so there was plenty left over.  Naturally, I could not resist the temptation this morning of digging into the remaining delicacy.
Now, I know lotsa' folks roll their eyes at the thought of something like lasagna for breakfast, but I am unencumbered by any such restrictions of thought when it comes to food.  Hells bells---if it was really good for dinner, it is gonna be really good for breakfast.

Anyway, the above picture is my breakfast plate consisting of lasagna and garlic bread.  Oh yeah, babe.......it's gonna be a good day!

I got a few of her notes on this recipe....

---1 1/2 lbs ground beef with 1/2 lb Italian sausage
---Boil lasagna noodles until pliable and allow to continue cooking during baking
---Add chopped fresh parsley and fresh grated parmesan cheese to ricotta cheese with one beaten egg
---Use Ragu traditional spaghetti sauce in jar---less ingredients (preservatives) than other brands

BON APPETIT!

My Most Excellent Breakfast

Sometimes the simple things are the best.  For most meals I feast on Cindy's latest culinary masterpiece, but this morning I decided she should take a break.  I created this very simple, yet drop-dead delicious sandwich for my early repast.

Twelve-Grain bread, mayo, Inglehoffer stone-ground mustard, thin sliced sweet onion, sliced tomato, grated muenster cheese and smoked turkey breast.  YES!  For some crunch, I added to the side a few baked potato chips with jalapeno seasoning.  Oh yeah, babe.  That's the way uh huh uh huh I like it uh huh uh huh.

Washed down with iced green tea.  Should hold me until din-din, at which time the Cinderoo will once again wow me with another tour-de-force.

The Corner Bakery

Our Little Restaurant
Our prayer group meets Tuesday mornings at 7:00 at The Corner Bakery.  There are six of us in our little group, and we have become close friends and brothers in Christ.  Today, I brought my camera and took a few pictures of our time together as we visited and discussed "Simple", Robert Morgan's book about the simplicity of being a Christian.
Mayra, Our Beautiful Server
Our first vision inside the Corner Bakery is that of Mayra, our beautiful server.  She is so cheerful!  She fills our orders for coffee and breakfast, and she always reinforces our good mood with her personality.

Darrell, Our Newest Member

Paul & Croissant

Darrell & Pannini
We sit at a table and eat our breakfasts and drink our coffee and catch up with what has been going on with each other over the past week.

Bill Holding Connor's New Crib Quilt
Debbie, Paul's wife, is a seamstress, and she has made a crib quilt for Bill's new grandbaby, Connor.

Then, we start discussing our reading assignment---today, it was chapter 1.  The burning question:  "How do you know you are going to heaven?"  This is a deep and sometimes troubling topic.  But, the discussion is lively and meaningful.

After two large mugs of java, a great discussion and comradeship, I am off for home, where Cindy will want to know what we discussed.
