POMS. (supposed to be "poems")
By Aileen Clinton
One dark night
When the moon was pale
For the want of light
In a little rude hut
In a little rude town
The rudest hut for miles around
A man was trembling
With fear and fright
For he was afraid to die that night
He called his wife to come and sit with him to the last
For he was dying dying fast
He told her he would soon be nocking at God's golden door
Asking if there were room for one more
He told her that and no more
All he heard was her wailing cry
And with that he died
Holy M i g h t

How special for a seven year old to have written such verses! Now I know where you got your writing abiity.
ReplyDeleteVery good for a child that age!!
ReplyDeleteIn my mind came the verses of an old song:
"Knocking on heavens door".
You remember (Eric Clapton)?
Hi Monika!---I sure do remember that song. Thanks for commenting, and have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteNow we know where your love of poetry came from. And you gotta love those martini's :)
ReplyDeleteVery talented, your Mom.
ReplyDeleteHabe a nice weekend.
Many greetings Sabine
Jane---Ha. You are exactly right---my mom IS where my love of poetry originated. And I got my appreciation of martinis from her, too!
ReplyDeleteSabine---thank you!...and have a great weekend!
Her handwriting was also very lovely for a 7 year old!
ReplyDeleteRebecca---You're right! But, you know, now that I think about it, handwriting used to be so much more important in school than it is now.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend in New York!
What a small artist!!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great poem coming from a child! :-)
